Using The Hotel California Lyrics Really Made A Difference To Me
June 23rd, 2011
Hotel California Lyrics are full of ambiguous imagery that some people interpret in strange ways. This Eagles track was the 1977 Grammys’ Record of the Year, but the band didn’t show up at the awards ceremony. Even the Hotel California lyrics included with the album were a cause of confusion for some people. The play on words in “She’s got the Mercedes bends” went over some people’s heads and they just thought it was a misspelling. Hotel California lyrics are a sustained metaphor of the Eagles’ LA experiences at the time, as band member Glenn Frey has explained. According to Frey’s co-lyricist Don Henley, the song is about the sordid parts of the American dream. The music for the song was first written by Don Felder and brought to the attention of Henley and Frey. Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 greatest albums of all time placed the Hotel California album at number 37.
