Can I Get an Auto Loan if my Only Income is Social Security?

November 21st, 2009

Right now my only source of income and Social Security disability. I get a total of $700 per month and live alone.  I have been going without a car now for five years and it is getting old.  Taking the bus is a pain in my backside. Medicare pays for all my hospital bills and medications, and I also have affordable housing. I have no other bills besides groceries and I can easily afford $200 per month to pay for a car loan and insurance. My credit is excellent, and I have $1000 for a down payment. I wonder if I can qualify for any Auto Loans for a cheap, economical used car.
