If the device is not powerful enough, it will struggle to steer your boat. Likewise, the wear and tear might cause it to easily fail. If your boat has heavy steering like a long keel, you should consider getting a higher displacement band for your autopilot. Moreover, in case you are planning to carry a heavy load on your boat, you need to make sure you get a powerful enough autopilot.
