Glacial erosion of a conveyor belt

October 17th, 2008

Glacial erosion of a conveyor belt results from the movement of glaciers across the surface of the earth due to gravity and other factors such as change in temperature. Compacted snow that turns into large and heavy sheets of ice on the surface of the earth is acted upon by gravity making them move like big rivers of ice across the earth’s surface. The moving glaciers acts like a glacial erosion of conveyor belt carrying debris  and carving rock surfaces as it moves over it, although it takes more than ice alone to eat up these rock surfaces and top layer.
