The Celebration of Veterans Day

February 15th, 2008

November 11 is the day that many nations commemorate Veterans‘ Day. Other countries like the United Kingdom (UK) call this day Armistice Day or Remembrance Day, denoting the finish of WWI. In the United States, Veteran’s Day is considered both a national and a state holiday. It was proclaimed and signed into law by former President, Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1954 to observe and give recognition to the US military servicemen and women who served and sacrificed for the country.

Individuals have different ways of celebrating this holiday for the country’s servicemen and women. Each state organizes different programs in honoring the country’s soldiers such as parades, giving credit and awards.
