The difference between industry and the individual is probably just scale.  When it comes to our impact on the planet we can learn a lot from the steps business is taking and apply it to our own life.In business a company will often use Waste Management Consultants to perform a strategic environmental assessment.  We can check to see we are being as environmentally sensible as possible too.A big issue for many companies is getting their energy consumption down.  When new buildings are being built that is one of the key considerations.  We can do the same.  Do we use too much energy?  Our version would be to check that we aren’t leaving lights on in rooms we aren’t using and making sure the TV isn’t left on stand-by.When it comes to recycling we can learn a lot from London’s ExCeL building that has a worm farm that processes all food waste.  On the individual scale we can compost in our back garden.Often the individual scale version of these ideas is easier to do and if we all did it we could make a bigger impact than all of the businesses.  Who would’ve thought that in the modern world we can learn to be kinder to the Earth by copying big business?
