Web marketing: examine your AWSTATS for long tail keywords

January 24th, 2008

If you are involved in any type of web marketing effort, you have no doubt heard about the importance of using longtail key words when doing your webpage optimization. The trouble is that many people are using the same sets of tools to determine what useful longtail keywords they should be using. There is a much simpler way: examine the AWSTATS folder where your website is hosted. You will usually find a list of referring keywords there — and among these you will find many longtail keywords that are simply not being picked up by the traditional research tools. These are long tail keywords which people have already used to find your site — simply take these key words and incorporate them into your existing webpages to increase the number of visitors that you are getting to your site.
