What Goes Into a Brochure?

I have to design some full color brochures for my work, but I don’t even know what goes into one! Obviously there are pictures and text, but what should the pictures show – our offices, our employees, our products? I’m just really confused about the whole process. I wish there was someone who could help me design these brochures without charging me a fortune. I know that it’s important to make sure the brochure isn’t too crowded or busy, but how do you strike a good balance between too informative and not informative enough? We need a graphic designer or something!
