Why Many People Bash Business Process Outsourcing

April 2nd, 2008

The trend of Business Process Outsourcing has been much reviled in the developed world. The reason? Quite a number of jobs in First World countries have transferred to the developing world. Why would companies leave their employees out in the cold like this? The reason is simple economics. In many cases, firms can expect to a lot less in wages in the developing world. Also, some countries where a lot of jobs are being outsourced, like China for example, do not have unions nor do they have a high regard for the safety or welfare of workers, further making it more affordable to do business in these countries, and hence more appealing to do business there.
