Risk of ectopic pregnancy

May 17th, 2010

Patients are seen between 5-7 days after the surgery to look at the small surgical incisions and remove any stitches if required. Usually, the few stitches that were put will be under the skin and will be degraded by the body, without the need for manual removal.Patients will have to wait two to three months before seeking to become pregnants in order to give the tubes a chance to get cured fully. Trying to get pregnant ahead could have a higher risk of ectopic pregnancy (i.e. pregnancy in the fallopian tubes in place of in the womb). When performed by a trained laparoscopic or outpatient tubal reversal surgeon, laparoscopic tubal reversal combines the success rates of micro-surgical methods with the rewards of minimally-invasive surgery namely faster recovery, tubal reversal better healing, low pain, fewer complications, and no large scars.
