Update On Celiac Disease

March 22nd, 2010

Surprisingly common in countries such as Finland, Sweden, Ireland and Austria, Celiac Disease is a recognized disease of the small intestine. Experiencing an allergic reaction to the protein gluten (found in products such as cereals and pasta) the intestine is not able to absorb proteins and minerals which will finally lead to malnutrition.Affecting men and women of all ages, there is no recognised cure for the disease but it can be controlled by following a gluten free diet. Cutting out certain drink and food containing gluten will reduce symptoms such as diarrhoea, abdominal pains, weight-loss and fatigue caused by the allergy. Ans A very important thing is going to doctor frequently for testing for celiac.
