A Marketing Executive Admits He Has a Drinking Problem

Dwayne has been a marketing executive for a prominent marketing firm for fifteen years.  Ten of those years he has been married to Jenny.  Dwayne and Jenny have two sons, Jason and Sam.  Dwayne has taken on additional responsibilities at work and, as a consequence, he has had less time to spend with his family.  At first, Jenny noticed that Dwayne often came home from work after their young sons went to sleep for the night.  Then Jenny noticed that Dwayne’s suits reeked from alcohol.  When Dwayne starting having headaches and had difficulty getting up each morning, Jenny started to speculate whether Dwayne was exhibiting some of the signs of alcoholism.  Late one Sunday night after the boys went to bed, Jenny decided to express her concerns about Dwayne’s drinking.  At first Dwayne was a bit defensive.  As Jenny kept on repeating how much she cared for him and his health, however, Dwayne finally admitted that he too has concerns about his drinking and that he would make an appointment to discuss his drinking problem with their physician.  While this didn’t solve the immediate problem Dwayne was experiencing, at least it was a step in the right direction.
