Adult acne in women

Just recently I started breaking out with pimples and blackheads not only on my face but on my chest. This sounds normal if you are in your teens and are suffering from hormonal changes. I’m 35 years old and have never suffered from acne in my life. As it all turns out this somewhat normal for a woman my age and can be due to several factors including hormones and even my gender. When a woman turns my age sometimes hormone levels change and the flux can cause the body to produce more of one chemical than the other namely estrogen. After I tried every over the counter this and that while wasting countless dollars in the mean time it became apparent that I needed to speak to a professional. Not just any professional one that dealt strictly with women’s health issues.  My gynecologist prescribed me a higher dosage of birth control that stabilized my hormones. This new pill has helped me a lot with my breakouts. It’s nice to have this type of information at my fingertips otherwise I would never have guessed my gynecologist would have been the one to call about my acne.
