Bug Bites
June 2nd, 2008
The weather is warming up and we are beginning to see bugs every where. Spiders, mosquitoes, ants, ticks, and fleas are all coming out of hiding. Regardless of what kind of bug it is that bites you, it is sure to cause some discomfort.
Some bites can be more harmful than others. Typically, for instance, a mosquito bite can be itchy and quite irritating, but it heals up ok on its own. However, a spider bite can be extremely dangerous. If not properly cared for, your health can be put at risk. A spider bite may require a visit to the doctor and prescription medications.
One day I noticed an irritated spot on my forearm. It itched and in the beginning, it only looked like a mosquito bite. However, I was wrong. As the days progressed the spot grew larger, redder, and more painful. There was a black spot in the middle, which indicated that I had more than likely been bit by a spider. Concerned, I went to the doctor and I was diagnosed as being bit by a brown recluse. The bad part was that I had to have my arm lanced due to the decay of some of my skin. The good part was, that I caught it in just enough time that my health was not seriously affected. I was put on pain medications and also antibiotics to prevent further infection.
Spider bites can cause serious illnesses, damaged skin tissue, high fevers, soreness, and dizziness.
