Disadvantages of Enteric Coated Fish Oil

September 11th, 2008

As you may be aware, most people use solvent based enteric coated fish oil because it is cheaper.  At the same time, it may also not taste or smell as bad as fish oil processed in other ways.  Unfortunately, many times the sour taste of  fish oil has more to do with the quality of the oil used.  Among other things, it is important to realize that fish oil comes from some of the largest fish and mammals in the ocean.  Typically, hunters will remain on the high seas for weeks on end.  As a result, the oil may well be partially rotten before it ever reaches a factory for processing into capsules.
