Payne’s Law

November 26th, 2009

In clinical medicine, there is a lot of evidence needed to support a lot of the treatments that are used but sad to say there are also a lot of treatments that clinicians use that research has not been done on. In the absence of evidence, you can really expect that there will be a lot of passionate debate about which is the best and these debates can get quite heated at medical conferences and meetings. Craig Payne, who formulated the Payne’s Law, states that  “The amount of passion involved in supporting a theory and the amount of emotional attachment to a theory is inversely proportional to the amount of evidence for that theory”
