Relevant Questions About Company Alcohol Testing
September 6th, 2008
Why is my company starting to conduct alcohol testing? Doesn’t my boss trust me anymore? Does this mean that I cannot have a few drinks on Sunday evening? What will happen if I test positive for alcohol? These are some of the questions employees are starting to ask regarding their company alcohol testing policies. These questions, for the most part, are valid and point to the concern that many employees have about their company’s alcohol testing procedures. What employers are trying to do is to significantly reduce alcohol-related injuries, accidents, and absenteeism. By doing this, employers hope to create a more productive and safe work environment. Employers really don’t want to snoop into their employees’ lives but they need to start taking steps to assure that their workers are not showing up for work “under the influence” of alcohol.
