Heart attack symptoms afflict men and women equally. The heart attack symptoms differ in women. Every year hundreds of thousands of women die because of heart attack. Very few postmenopausal women have heart attacks. But the women should smoke, have diabetes or are on birth control pills for a long time. There is shortness of breath, which may or may not occur with discomfort. There is nausea or light-headedness. There are flu like symptoms with chills and cold sweats. There is extreme fatigue and heartburn or indigestion. There are heart palpitations. There is chest discomfort, pain, tightness or pressure in the centre of the chest that persists intermittently.
