The Ketogenic Diet: An Aid For Epilepsy

Even though I’m not a doctor, one of my hobbies — if it can be called such — is learning what I’m able about the various functions of the human body and how it works. With every new nugget of information I gather, I become more amazed. For example, the ketogenic diet; which for a number of years has been used in the control of epileptic seizures. For some unknown reason — although research is currently going on — the process of forcing the body into ketosis by increasing fat intake and drastically reducing carbohydrate intake — produces an anticonvulsant effect which is very beneficial to those with epilepsy.
