Can I Find an Old Friend with People Search?

I had a really good friend in high school who was just awful about keeping in touch after I moved away. She was always thrilled to get together whenever I got to town, she just wasn’t much of a correspondent. Would it be possible to do a people search and find out where she is now? I really don’t know how these work, or what you can find out. I just want to figure out how I can contact her, either by email or by phone so that I can see if we can catch up and get together sometime.
