BACKUP for Success!

October 14th, 2009

So what is backup software and why should you be concerned about it? Simply put, backup software is nothing more than a computer program that is used to make a duplicate of everything on your computer ranging from a file to a server, to a database to a backup of a software system. How? By creating duplicate images of data with backup software which protects files by saving them in the hard drive. Hopefully you can see why this is a good thing: being able to recover data or even a system takes the risk out of using a computer!

Let’s face it: it doesn’t matter if you’re a doctor or a lawyer, an artist or a plumber, having the ability to backup your data is crucial in this high-tech age we live in! Consider the number of times we read in the newspaper or hear on television that a malicious virus (enabled by a hacker) wreaked havoc on the archived files and programs of a large corporation. What you don’t hear about is that due to a backup, the company’s important files were recovered. Online backup was created in order to protect against such threats: a virus or worm can’t damage the computer’s online backup of files and programs.

online backup gives the computer operator the option of keeping duplicate files in storage on the same site that is provided by your server, thus offering you instant access if needed.

Keep in mind however that backup files take up a lot of space, but in the long run what would you rather have? A loss of a memory or a (permanent) loss of data?
