Edit Boot.ini To Fix System32 Hal Dll Error

If its not hard disk failure, the system32 hal dll error can be fixed by correcting invalid entries on Windows boot.ini file. Though you wont be able to access Windows system files via Recovery Console, you can use Bootcfg utility to correct the Boot.ini file. Load you Windows XP CD-ROM and press R for Repair Windows using Recovery Console. Select the installation you need to work on with and enter your administrator’s password if prompted. Then type bootcfg/rebuild, press enter on your keyboard. administrator password when prompted. You will be asked,

Add installation to boot list (Yes/No/All)

Type Y for yes, then you’ll be prompted;Enter Load Identifier:Type in the type of Windows you have, example Windows XP Professional or Windows XP Home Edition)When you are asked for OS Load Options, just leave it blank and press enter on your keyboard. After this, you can now restart your computer. At reload, select the first item in the load menu – Start Windows XP normally.
